Jaguar is a stage name for Charles Njagua Kanyi, a Kenyan musician, politician, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. He was born on October 27, 1985, in Nairobi, Kenya. He started his music career in 2004 and has released several hit songs, including "Kigeugeu," "Kioo," "One Centimeter," and "Ndoto."
Aside from music, Jaguar is also involved in politics and philanthropy. He was elected as a member of parliament for Starehe constituency in Nairobi in 2017. He is also the founder of the Jaguar Foundation, which aims to empower young people in Kenya through education, talent development, and mentorship.
Jaguar has won several awards for his music, including the Best Male Artist in East Africa at the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in 2016. He has also been recognized for his philanthropic work and was awarded the Head of State Commendation (HSC) by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2019.
In 2020, Jaguar was involved in a controversial incident in which he was captured on camera assaulting a DJ at a nightclub in Nairobi. He later apologized for his actions and was fined by the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) for promoting alcohol consumption.
